Activision demanding CoD dataminer stop Verdansk project

Activision demanding CoD dataminer stop Verdansk project

  • By Admin

Call of Duty: Warzone players were excited to play on Verdansk again, but Activision isn’t having it.

Verdansk is the most popular Warzone map of all time and players have been hoping that Warzone 2 would reintroduce the beloved map. So far, however, it’s been absent from the map pool and there are no words from developers on it ever arriving.

Dataminer HeyImAlaix answered the community’s call and decided to create his own build of Verdansk for fans to play on. In response, Activision has sent him a cease and desist.

Activision threatening player for Verdansk project

Activision has accused HeyImAlaix of creating and distributing pirated and cracked versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a CoD title from 2019.

The message to the dataminer read: “Alexis, it has come to our attention that you have been advertising and distributing a recently cracked version of MW2019, which you may have been involved in creating.”

This was an unfortunate update for the Call of Duty community who had been waiting for HeyImAlaix’s Warzone project to be finished. He had made a lot of progress recently, sharing a photo of a private Warzone lobby with Verdansk selected back in August.

This is the third time that Activision has reached out to HeyImAliax regarding “unlawful conduct in connection with the Call of Duty games.” The game publisher is hoping to “preserve and protect” the game and its “incredibly talented developers.” Activision called HeyImAlaix’s Verdansk project “unauthorized use” of the game.

In response, the community called Activision “passive-aggressive” and urged HeyImAlaix to frame the cease and desist in his office. Others expressed anger at Activision for stopping the project despite not responding to the community’s ongoing demands for Verdansk to return.

It’s unclear if Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have Verdansk.
