De Bortoli have released this at this at just the right time, back end of winter and start of spring. Not quite a wine (though its base is Prosecco) and not quite a cocktail.
De Bortoli, Limoncello Spritz, Riverina, NV
Okay, I really wasn’t sure about this, but gee, park your preconceptions and judgy looks and just enjoy it. It smells like someone just drove over a big yellow grapefruit and drowned it in lemon juice. There’s a hint of white flowers, lemon drop lollies and fizzle that tickles your nose. Spritzy palate rather than a delicate mousse. It’s nearly like a popular canned alcoholic lemon soda but that slightly sweeter, concentrated limoncello influence and lemon pith citrus bitter finish. Tall glass, over ice with mint and look out. Nothing gold medal winning, but hot weather and picnics? Look out.
