A popular AI girlfriend service has been hacked, and its member’s chatlogs and email addresses handed to an ‘investigative journalism’ website that has targetted AI porn sites in the past. Muah.ai, which was one of the leading AI companion sites until it got superseded by a growing number of competitors, was targetted by an alleged hacker after he stumbled upon it when ‘only wanting to jerk off’. However, he claims that after noticing vulnerablilities in the site, he took the opportunity to crack open the database, revealing some disturbing fantasies of members roleplaying extremely underage fantasies with their chatbots. Sickened by what he looked for, the hacker took the treasure trove of illegally hacked depravity to 404 media, a tech investigative site that in the last year, has taken aim at both AI porn generators and ‘nudify apps’. It is not known if the hacker did, in the end, jerk off.

This all sounds extremely contrived to me. A random hacker looking to jerk off, just so happens to decide to hack a popular AI GF site, and then finds from among the hundreds of thousands of chatlogs, a few extremely disturbing ones. He then promptly hands it to 404 Media, who can use it to whip up some hysteria against AI girlfriends, just as they had with AI porn generators and nudify apps.

I suspect that the Taylor Swift deepfake porn scandal was actually set up to create the final push for anti-deepfake porn legislation. I believe that now that deepfake porn has been universally condemned and is being criminalized pretty much everywhere, the focus has already started to shift to AI girlfriends. A recent article published at ‘The New Feminist‘ claimed that companion chatbots allowed ‘incels’ to ‘abuse’ AI women. While it’s tempting to dismiss such hysterics as the ranting of crazy radical feminists, such people do have a strong and growing influence on the government in the UK, Australia, and elsewhere, whichever political party happens to be in power.

As far as MuahAI are concerned, they have rather oddly blamed the hack on ‘rival AI girlfriend sites’. That would certainly be a risky and short-term strategy for any such competitor, given that it hasn’t forced MuahAI to close, but rather simply shed some unfavourable light on AI companion services in general. As already stated, although MuahAI is a popular AI GF site, it’s just one of many these days. MuahAI itself may benefit from the media coverage, and to its credit, the team there have defended the right of adults to engage in their own private AI fantasies.
