Topaz is the prime example of a Sub DPS. She is a Single Target Follow-up Damage Dealer that famously works as the best sidekick to some of the strongest Follow-up Damage Hypercarries in the game like Feixiao or Dr. Ratio.
She provides powerful Follow-up Damage Boosts via debuffs and high attack frequency from her summon and partner in crime – Numby. Beyond the aforementioned usage, Topaz is rather limited as a unit as there are not many compositions where she would be best-in-slot nor bring substantial improvements.
HSR Topaz Release Date
Topaz initially released on October 23rd, 2023 (Version 1.4) and her latest rerun lasted from October 2nd 2024, to October 22nd, 2024 (Version 2.5).
HSR Topaz Talents
Topaz HSR Kit Overview (Trace Level 10)
Numby
Topaz is one of the rare units in the game with a Summon. At the start of the battle, she will summon Numby to the field and mark a random enemy with Proof of Debt.
Enemies with Proof of Debt will receive a 50% Follow-up Vulnerability debuff, vastly increasing the damage they take from Follow-up Damage from Topaz’s allies and herself in general. Numby has a base speed of 80 and will attack only enemies marked with Proof of Debt independently from Topaz, and every time a Follow-up attack is launched by allies onto the enemy with Proof of Debt debuff, Numby’s action will Advance Forward 50%.
Skill, Ultimate, Basic
While the first Proof of Debt targeting is automatically random, Topaz can directly reassign this debuff with her Skill. Topaz’s Ultimate will enhance Numby for the next two attacks with a stronger multiplier and Crit Damage. Furthermore, for the duration of the Ultimate, allies’ attacks will also advance Numby instead of only Follow-up attacks.
Last but not least, Topaz’s Skill, Basic Attack, and Numby hits are all considered Follow-up attacks, which are quite convenient for triggering follow-up-related blessings or effects.
Follow-Up Synergy
With all the follow-up-related effects in her kit, it is quite clear to see where Topaz would fit in. She is a premium sub-DPS option for follow-up Damage Dealers and can even function as a hyper carry on her own. She is best when paired with similar teammates of the same archetypes, namely Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, Aventurine, and Robin.
The synergy often goes two ways as well, since Topaz also benefits from high-frequency follow-up attackers advancing Numby more often, leading to more Numby attacks. Outside of follow-up teams, however, Topaz has very limited application due to a lack of synergy with other archetypes.
Topaz has an interesting overworld application as well. Numby will automatically scour nearby areas for Treasure Chests and Warp Trotters and lead the player to it. While this is hardly a justified reason to pull for her, it’s a pretty fun perk that can be handy for some people to find the missing obscure Treasure Chests.
Topaz HSR Core Skills
Basic Attack – Deficit…
Deals Fire Damage equal to 100% of Topaz’s ATK to a single enemy.
Skill – Difficulty Paying?
Inflicts a single target enemy with a Proof of Debt status, increasing the follow-up attack Damage it receives by 50%. Proof of Debt only takes effect on the most recent target it is applied to. If there are no enemies inflicted with Proof of Debt on the field when an ally’s turn starts or when an ally takes action, Topaz will inflict a random enemy with Proof of Debt.
Numby deals Fire Damage equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK to this target. Using this Skill to deal Damage is considered as launching a follow-up attack.
Ultimate – Turn a Profit!
Numby enters the Windfall Bonanza! state and its Damage multiplier increases by 150% and CRIT Damage increases by 25%. Also, when enemies with Proof of Debt are hit by an ally’s Basic ATK, Skill, or Ultimate, Numby’s action is Advanced Forward by 50%. Numby exits the Windfall Bonanza! state after using 2 attacks.
Talent – Trotter Market!?
Summons Numby at the start of battle. Numby has 80 SPD by default. When taking action, Numby launches follow-up attacks on a single enemy target afflicted with Proof of Debt, dealing Fire Damage equal to 150% of Topaz’s ATK.
When enemies afflicted with Proof of Debt receive an ally’s follow-up attacks, Numby’s action is Advanced Forward by 50%. The action Advance Forward effect cannot be triggered during Numby’s own turn.
When Topaz is downed, Numby disappears.
Technique – Explicit Subsidy
Summons Numby when Topaz enters the overworld. Numby will automatically search for Basic Treasures and Trotters within a set radius.
Using her Technique will regenerate 60 Energy for Topaz after Numby’s first attack in the next battle.
If Topaz is still in the team after using her Technique and defeating overworld enemies, a small bonus amount of credits will be added to the earned credits. A maximum of 10000 bonus credits can be received per calendar day.
After using her Technique and defeating enemies in Simulated Universe or Divergent Universe, additionally receive a small amount of Cosmic Fragments with a small chance to obtain 1 random Curio.
Topaz HSR Traces
Overdraft
When Topaz uses Basic ATK to deal Damage, it will be considered as a follow-up attack.
Financial Turmoil
Increases Topaz & Numby’s Damage dealt to enemy targets with Fire Weakness by 15%.
Stonks Market
After Numby uses an attack while in the Windfall Bonanza! state, Topaz additionally regenerates 10 Energy.
Topaz HSR Eidolons
E1 | Future Market: When enemies afflicted with Proof of Debt receive follow-up attacks, they will enter the Debtor state. This can take effect only once within a single attack. The Debtor state increases the CRIT Damage of follow-up attacks inflicted on the target enemies by 25%, stacking up to 2 time(s). When Proof of Debt is removed, the Debtor state is also removed.. |
E2 | Bona Fide Acquisition: After Numby takes action and launches an attack, Topaz regenerates 5 Energy. |
E3 | Seize the Big and Free the Small: Skill Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Basic ATK Lv. +1, up to a maximum of Lv. 10. |
E4 | Agile Operation: After Numby’s turn begins, Topaz’s action is Advanced Forward by 20%. |
E5 | Inflationary Demand: Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. |
E6 | Incentive Mechanism: Numby’s attack count during the Windfall Bonanza! state increases by 1, and its Fire RES PEN increases by 10% when it attacks. |
Eidolon Priority
Topaz is one of the very few limited 5 stars units with all 4 Eidolons being decent to good. Either way, Topaz’s signature Light Cone should be the priority before attempting to get any of her Eidolons.
Her E1 is quite good and versatile as it helps not only her damage but also alleviates a lot of pressure to build Crit Damage on her follow-up damage dealer teammates. It is also a separate debuff so with her Signature Light Cone and her Proof of Debt debuff it is a total of 3 debuffs, which is the magic number to fulfill Dr.Ratio’s debuff requirement as well as Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters relic set.
Investing further into Topaz is not highly recommended despite her Eidolons being powerful, the reason being that she is still mostly just a Sub DPS with limited team applications and these Eidolons don’t directly change how the team is played mechanically.
Even in her best team which is Feixiao / Dr. Ratio team, there are often better vertical options before it comes to Topaz’s Eidolons such as Robin’s E1 or Feixiao E1-E2.
- Eidolon 1: High Value
- Eidolon 2: Medium High Value

HSR Topaz Light Cones
Premium Options
Worrisome, Blissful
Increase the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 18% / 21% / 24% / 27% / 30% and increase Damage dealt by follow-up attack by 30% / 35% / 40% / 45% / 50% . After the wearer uses a follow-up attack, inflicts the target with the Tame state, stacking up to 2 time(s). When allies hit enemy targets under the Tame state, each Tame stack increases the CRIT Damage dealt by 12% / 14% / 16% / 18% / 20%.
Topaz’s Signature Light Cone is an extremely potent Light Cone not only for Topaz but also for the follow-up attack team as a whole. It is a significant boost to Topaz’s damage but also helps units like Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, or Jing Yuan a lot when it comes to getting a good Crit ratio. It is also a very versatile Light cone that many units can use as an alternative to their Signature Light Cone.
F2P Options
Cruising In The Stellar Sea
Increases the wearer’s Crit rate by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% , and increases their Crit rate against enemies with HP percentage less than or equal to 50% by an extra 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% . When the wearer defeats an enemy, their Attack is increased by 20% / 25% / 30% / 35% / 40% for 2 turn(s).
Cruising is the F2P option with the highest raw stats and Crit Rate in general is more efficient to stack for Topaz than Crit Damage due to how much Crit Damage she gets from other sources.
Swordplay
For each time the wearer hits the same target, Damage deals increases by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% , stacking up to 5 time(s). This effect will be dispelled when the wearer changes targets.
Swordplay gives the most boost to Topaz’s damage out of all F2P options if the effect can be maintained throughout the battle.
Only Silence Remain
Increases the wearer’s ATK by 16% / 20% / 24% / 28% / 32% . If there are 2 or fewer enemies on the field, increase the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% .
Only Silence Remain is a good alternative option that offers strong stats but with a stricter requirement.
HSR Topaz Main Stats
- Body: Crit Rate
- Feet: Attack / Speed
- Orb: Fire Damage
- Rope: Attack
Topaz gets a lot of Crit Damage from her Signature Light Cone, teammates, and items so Critical Rate should be the priority. Getting as close to a 100% Crit Rate is a priority for her.
For her boot, both Speed and Attack boots are viable. Attack nets stronger Topaz damage but lower Attack frequency which can affect things like Feixiao’s stack generations.
Fire Damage is the best option for Orb, but she can work with an Attack% Orb with good Crit substats rolls.
For rope, Attack% is the only viable choice as Topaz doesn’t hit any energy breakpoint with Energy Regeneration Rope and the other stats don’t do much for her.
HSR Topaz Sub Stats
- Crit Rate
- Crit Damage
- Attack
- Speed
Topaz should get Crit Rate as close to 100% as possible, then go for Crit Damage and Attack. A few Speed subs to hit 134+ Speed is recommended if going Speed boot.
Speed Tuning
Goal: 134+ in combat Speed
Topaz does not have a very specific Speed breakpoint to hit. 134+ Speed in combat is a good breakpoint to hit since it lets Topaz attack twice in the first cycle which does make her a bit more versatile when it comes to SP usage/generation.
Extra speed beyond this rarely makes a difference and it’s better to focus on offensive stats like Attack and Crit Value instead.
HSR Topaz Relics
The Ashblazing Grand Duke
2-Pc: Increases the Damage dealt by follow-up attack by 20%.
4-Pc: When the wearer uses follow-up attacks, increases the wearer’s Attack by 6% for every time the follow-up attack deals Damage. This effect can stack up to 8 time(s) and lasts for 3 turn(s). This effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a follow-up attack.
This is the best set for Topaz damage-wise thanks to the massive 20% damage boost to follow-up attack. Since Numby’s hits (either enhanced or unenhanced) are multi-hits (7 hits enhanced, 8 hits unenhanced), they can benefit a lot from the 4 pc bonus.
Pioneer Diver of Dead Waters
2-Pc: Increases Damage dealt to enemies with debuffs by 12%.
4-Pc: Increases CRIT Rate by 4%. The wearer deals 8%/12% increased CRIT Damage to enemies with at least 2/3 debuffs. After the wearer inflicts a debuff on enemy targets, the aforementioned effects increase by 100%, lasting for 1 turn(s).
With her signature, Light Cone Topaz has 2 debuffs that are always on. The third can come from teammates such as Pela or Dr. Ratio, or her Eidolon 1, making Pioneer a quite viable option.
Musketeer of Wild Wheat
2-Pc: Increases Attack by 12%.
4-Pc: The wearer’s SPD increases by 6% and Damage dealt by Basic ATK increases by 10%.
This is a decent placeholder set for Topaz as she can benefit from all of the bonuses, but it is significantly behind the other two sets.
HSR Topaz Planar Sets
The Wondrous BananAmusement Park
2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Damage by 16%. When a target summoned by the wearer is on the field, CRIT Damage additionally increases by 32%.
As Numby is a Summon, Topaz will fully benefit from this set bonus. 48% Crit Damage is quite bonkers as a 2pc bonus which means she can fully concentrate on building Crit Rate.
Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves
2-Pc: When an ally uses follow-up attack, the wearer gains 1 stack of Merit, stacking up to 5 time(s). Each stack of Merit increases the Damage dealt by the wearer’s follow-up attacks by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer’s Crit Damage by 25%.
Duran is an extremely strong option for Topaz in the follow-up team since she can stack it very fast, getting a powerful permanent 25% Crit Damage and 25% Follow-up Damage essentially after just a turn or so. Duran has the advantage of also being a staple choice for other follow-up attack units like Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, or Yunli meaning farming its domain is quite efficient.
Inert Salsotto
2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s Crit Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current Crit Rate reaches 50% or higher, the Damage dealt by the wearer’s Ultimate and follow-up attack increases by 15%.
Salsotto is a decent placeholder option. The 8% Crit Rate makes her stats requirement more lenient, but it loses out to Duran at max stacks.
HSR Topaz Teammates
Main DPS
Feixiao
Feixiao is by far Topaz’s best and most prominent teammate. Feixiao has an incredibly high follow-up attack frequency which can advance Numby a lot, while Topaz makes a fantastic stack generator for Feixiao while also boosting her Damage which is mostly follow-up Attack.
Dr. Ratio
Dr. Ratio is a worse but still potent version of Feixiao. Topaz with her Signature Light Cone also provides two debuffs which is quite valuable for Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack trigger chance.
Yunli
Yunli’s damage is mostly follow-up attacks, so Topaz can definitely benefit from her high follow-up attack frequency and also help Yunli in pure single-target fights. The synergy is not as strong as Feixiao / Dr. Ratio but still quite decent.
Harmony/Nihility
Robin
Robin is the natural teammate option for all follow-up attack units thanks to her powerful damage trigger on every attack instance, which most follow-up attack DPS naturally have an abundance of. Topaz’s high attack frequency also helps Robin charge her Ultimate fast. All other harmony/nihility units will be a huge dropoff in terms of performance from Robin.
Sparkle
While Topaz is perfectly fine using her basic attack, having Sparkle in the team alleviates a lot of the SP pressure and lets Topaz spam her Skill more. Several of Sparkle’s buffs are also teamwide, making her a good support for multi-DPS teams.
Bronya
Bronya is very SP-hungry support but gives a powerful boost to the main carry. Topaz, on the other hand, can be played fully SP positive since her basic is also a follow-up attack, making this duo very smooth when supporting something like Feixiao.
Sustain
Aventurine
Aventurine is the best sustain for a follow-up attack team by far. He does a lot of follow-up attacks to trigger Numby. Aventurine generally builds Crit Rate so he benefits a lot from the follow-up attack vulnerability and crit damage vulnerability debuff that Topaz provides.
Lingsha
Lingsha also does a lot of follow-up attacks and shares the element with Topaz, making her a top-tier option against Fire-weak enemies.
Huohuo
While Topaz is not an energy-hungry unit, she greatly appreciates extra energy for more enhanced Numby attacks. Huohuo is an excellent partner for her when she accompanies other energy-based follow-up attackers like Yunli, Dr. Ratio, or Clara.
HSR Topaz Teams
Topaz Standard Follow Up Team
This is the staple Topaz team where she gives the most value. Topaz can also support other follow-up-based damage dealers like Yunli, Clara, Jing Yuan, and Himeko but her impact in those teams is generally worse than another Harmony / Nihility amplifier.
HSR Topaz Pull Value and Conclusion
Topaz is a component of one of the best compositions in the game – the bread-and-butter follow-up team. By her own, she is not a stellar unit, but her value does skyrocket when paired with top-tier follow-up DPS like Feixiao.
However, Topaz is easily the most replaceable piece of the team as she has two very capable 4-star competitors in Hunt March 7th and Moze (with the exception of Apocalyptic Shadow where Hunt March 7th is generally better).
While she is better than them, the gap between her and the F2P options is not as staggering as say from Robin to the next Harmony in the team. As such, players should only consider Topaz once they have secured all the other important and more impactful pieces, such as Feixiao, Robin, Aventurine, and/or their Signature Light Cone.
Outside of this team, she is very skippable as she does not bring notable improvement to any other archetypes.
