Police have arrested a man who went on a robbery spree in two states on Sunday in which he took money from a gas station and attempted to get cash at a casino’s VIP gaming lounge.

Richard Martinez wore a face covering that law enforcement likened to a mask or scarf when he carried out the offenses. The 29-year-old did not get any money from the VIP Gaming lounge in Sioux City, South Dakota before fleeing.

He then went into a Pump ‘N Pak gas station in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, where he wielded something that appeared to be a gun; the cashier gave Martinez money from the register.

looked at surveillance footage and identified Martinez

Police looked at surveillance footage and identified Martinez as the masked man before tracking him down later that day while he was driving a stolen vehicle. He now faces charges of first-degree robbery and second-degree theft, remaining in Woodbury County Jail on a $30,000 bond.
