When winter arrives and the snow is falling, it’s essential to have the right footwear that keeps you dry, warm, and stylish.
When I head to the ski fields I like to wear my favourite Merry People gumboots anytime I’m not zooming down the slopes. (Read my Merry People Boots review).
Merry People boots have been tested for sub-zero temperatures and will keep you comfy and toasty warm all day long!
Why Merry People Boots Are Perfect For Snow
Merry People boots are the perfect companion for snowy adventures due to their exceptional quality and durability, their comfortable fit and their trendy colours. Here’s more useful information including the main reasons we love these best-selling boots.
Weatherproof Materials
Each Merry People gumboot is made from natural rubber upper and natural rubber sole. Their waterproof construction and snow-proof material ensure that your feet remain dry and cosy. Say goodbye to damp socks and uncomfortable wet feet! These are the perfect waterproof hiking boots.
Insulated for Warmth
The neoprene lining of Merry People boots provides excellent insulation that traps heat inside, keeping your feet comfortably warm in wintery weather throughout your snowy adventures.
Stylish Design
Who says you can’t look fashionable in the snow? Merry People offer a wide range of colours to brighten up grey days. Whether you prefer classic neutrals or bold, vibrant hues, there’s a pair of Merry People Boots that will elevate your winter wardrobe.
There are also different lengths of boots – I have worn my Darcy mid-calf boots and Bobbi Ankle Boots in the snow, but prefer the longer length to avoid getting snow accidentally falling inside the boot, making it wet.
Superior Traction and Grip
Walking on slippery, icy surfaces can be a challenge but the adult Merry People boots are equipped with superior traction and grip. This versatile product has sturdy outsoles that provide excellent stability, minimising the risk of slips and falls. Not just useful for rain and muddy conditions, but perfect for all day snow play!
Comfortable Fit
The Merry family prides themselves on producing the perfect everyday rain boot. Comfort is key when it comes to footwear, especially during long winter days.
Merry People boots offer lightly cushioned insoles and a supportive arch construction that keep your feet happy throughout the day. Add a pair of breathable Merry People socks for extra comfort!
Easy Maintenance
With Merry People Boots, clean-up is a breeze. Simply wipe off any snow or dirty ice, and your boots will be ready for the next adventure.
The Merry People Care Kit also contains products for an easy 3-step boot care process that’s designed to clean, restore, and protect your Merry People Boots.
Merry People Sizing
Q: What size Merry People gum boots should I order?
Merry People sizing states that their waterproof boots run true to size, so I recommend ordering your normal shoe size. However, it’s important to consider your specific foot shape and preferences.
For instance, I’m a size 38 shoe with narrow feet and I have size 38 and 39 Bobbi boots.
If you have narrow feet like mine, the size 38 Bobbi boots would be a great fit. They offer a snug and comfortable feel, but keep in mind that there won’t be much room between the toe and the tip of the shoe. This means that wearing very thick socks might not be possible with the size 38 boots.
On the other hand, if you prefer more room and plan to wear thicker socks, the size 39 boots would be a better option.
I have the size 38 Darcy mid-calf boots and my toe is right up to the tip of the boot. But given that I normally wear thicker socks in the snow and likely tuck in my pant cuffs or tights into the boot, I really think I should have ordered the size 39 boot.
Both the rubber and neoprene used in Merry People Boots have some elasticity, allowing for a slight stretch over time. Initially, they might feel a bit tight, but they will gradually mold to the shape of your foot.
If you fall between half sizes, you can experiment with adding or removing the insole to achieve a better fit. This customisation option can help fine-tune the sizing for a more personalized experience.
The Merry People size guide shows the innersole measurements. This allows you to compare their boots to a pair of shoes you already own, ensuring a more accurate selection.
Merry People Returns
Q: What is the process for Merry People Australia returns?
Merry People provides hassle-free exchanges or returns within Australia and New Zealand for a period of 30 days from the date of receiving your original order. To qualify for the exchange or return, the items must be in unworn, undamaged, and resellable condition, meaning no creases or wear on the soles, and they should be in their original packaging.

Merry People Commonly Asked FAQs
Q: Can I wear Merry People Boots in extremely cold temperatures?
A: For extremely cold temperatures I think you’re going to need warmer boots, probably with sheepskin or similar lining. Merry People boots are not speciality snow boots although they will be ableto withstand pretty cold temperatures and keep your feet warm.
Q: Are Merry People Boots suitable for snowy hikes?
A: Yes! Merry People Boots are not only stylish but also highly functional for a family ski trip and hikes. Their superior traction and grip make them perfect for short snowy hikes, providing stability and preventing slips on uneven terrains. For longer hikes, I’d recommend specialist snow hiking boots.
Q: How do I clean my Merry People Boots after walking in the snow?
A: Simply wipe off any dirt or snow using a damp cloth. For tougher stains, you can use a mild soap solution and a soft brush. Allow them to air dry naturally, and your boots will be ready for your next snowy adventure.
Q: Do Merry People shoes come in different sizes and styles?
Yes, Merry People shoes are available in a range of sizes and styles to cater to different preferences. For snow most people wear their signature Bobbi Ankle Boots or Darcy taller mid-calf boots.
Q: Are the Kids Gumboots able to be used in the snow?
While the Merry People Kids Gumboots have the same temperature rating as the adult boots (which is sub-zero), they don’t have the enhanced traction sole and aren’t slip-rated, so take care with little kids on icy surfaces.
Q: Can I wear Merry People Boots for activities other than snow-related ones?
Absolutely! While Merry People gum boots are great in snowy conditions, they are versatile enough to be worn for various activities. Whether you’re running errands in the city or walking your dog in the park, Merry People boots provide the comfort and style you need.
Q: Do Merry People make other rain gear?
Absolutely! Merry People are rainwear specialists, and they’ve teamed up with the New Zealand brand BLUNT Umbrellas to create the exclusive Merry People umbrella.
The Merry People x BLUNT Metro 2.0 umbrella is compact, collapsible, and designed to withstand wind without breaking or flipping inside out.
This limited edition umbrella features a stylish two-tone design in forest green with black piping, complete with the Merry People logo. Pair it with your Alpine Green Bobbi Gumboots, and you’ll be ready to embrace any rainy day!
