Our darts tipster Sean Rafferty has already given us his World Series of Darts Final Predictions but he is also doing a daily tipping piece as well. Here are his Darts Betting Tips for Saturday’s World Series of Darts action from Amsterdam including match by match breakdowns and a interesting looking treble.

World Series of Darts Saturday Betting Tips

  • Dirk van Duijvenbode to win @ 8/11
  • Rob Cross to win @ 2/7
  • Michael Smith to win @ 3/10

2.5 pts Double @ 19/10

Game by game breakdown

Saturday Afternoon:

Keane Barry vs Kevin Doets – Not a great deal to say about this one. Both players are debutants at this event and just 0.36 points separate their averages over the last 12 months, which tells you how tightly matched they are.

Doets hasn’t played as well this year as he did in the latter half of 2023 in my opinion. I actually think Barry is playing the slightly better of the two in recent months and could spin a small upset here.

Prediction – Barry win

Rhys Griffin vs Jeff Smith – With all due respect to them, this pair must’ve thought they’d hit the jackpot when this draw was made. It’s a very winnable game for both, when they could’ve been faced with far tougher ties.

This is Griffin’s first ever televised PDC event apart from the UK Open(where he hasn’t been on main stage), so this will be a big deal for him, as he hasn’t even managed to qualify for a Euro Tour event yet this year.

Jeff Smith is coming off the back of a good run to the final of the English Classic at the weekend. However, I did catch bits of him on the Modus Live League last week where I wasn’t too impressed, winning only two out of eight games in what I thought would be favourable double-in format for him.

I just think experience could get The Silencer over the line in what I think could be a match for the purists.

Prediction – Jeff Smith win

Daryl Gurney vs Dirk van Duijvenbode – Dirk is slowly getting closer to his best again, with his top game definitely in the locker again and it’s just a case of him trying to produce it more consistently. He enjoyed a run to the QFs on the Euro Tour last weekend, which included wins over Littler, Heta and Clayton, before losing out to Pietreczko.

The Aubergenius has averaged 100+ in four of his last nine matches, which is fairly decent. He made the final of this in 2022 when playing at his peak, good evidence he can produce in front of a home crowd.

Gurney too is playing some good stuff just now – he made the semis of both a Euro and Pro Tour event in the last few weeks, averaging 97+ in his last four matches. He could prove a tough opponent but I think Dirk’s ceiling is higher when he’s on song and the backing of the crowd will see him over the line I think.

I’m not too sure how Gurney would cope with a hostile crowd against him either, he’s been known to let it get to him in the past.

Prediction – Van Duijvenbode win

Gerwyn Price vs Cameron Menzies – Pretty mouthwatering match. Menzies is the form man in the PDC right now, if you go off the numbers only. He’s still looking for his maiden PDC title but if he continues producing the level he is currently then it can’t be far off.

In 2024, Price is averaging just one point higher than Cammy. He’s won 35 of his last 42 games since early July and averaged 100+ in almost half of them. My only worry for Menzies is his lack of exposure to going deep in televised PDC majors, with the fourth round of the UK Open his best ever effort out of 10 PDC Major appearances.

Price has had an up and down year, generally playing to a good level and sits fourth in 2024 averages and has also done well on World Series events this year. The Iceman has also enjoyed some success in this event in the past, winning it in both 2020 and 2022 and has never lost in the opening round either in eight previous appearances.

I think Price just finds a way to get this won, but don’t be surprised at all if Menzies beats him though.

Prediction – Price win

Peter Wright vs Dave Chisnall – Wright lost out to Chizzy narrowly on the Euro Tour last weekend in the QFs, although he really should’ve won that though from a leading position and 5/20 on doubles really didn’t help his cause. Chizzy then went on to win the event as he continues his love affair with the Euro Tour.

Converting this winning mentality over to the big televised events has always been an issue for Chisnall though, as he still searches for his first major title. His best efforts here are two SFs from seven appearances. Wright on the other hand is far more proven in the televised tournaments – he’s never won this event, however has made two finals and two SFs in nine appearances.

Before Sunday’s match, Wright had won their last four meetings. At slightly bigger odds, I’d definitely side with Wright to win this one and get revenge for last weekend.

Prediction – Wright win

Rob Cross vs Simon Whitlock – Cross hasn’t played a great amount of darts recently, opting to sit out recent events on the Euro and Pro Tours. However, he looks to have a fairly decent draw against an out of sorts Whitlock.

Losing his tour card looks a harsh reality for the Aussie potentially at the end of this year, unless he can turn around his fortunes. He’s lost 12 of his last 14 matches and has averaged below 87 in seven of his last eight matches, which won’t cut it at all against Voltage.

Cross’ form tailed off slightly after a crushing defeat to Michael Smith at the World Matchplay, which perhaps influenced his decision to have almost a month off before this. He should still have too much for The Wizard though.

Cross has never lost an opening round match in five previous appearances, reaching the final in 2020. Whitlock has a poor record at this event, only making two QFs in eight appearances and has lost his opening match in his last four here. A straightforward win on the cards for Cross surely.

Prediction – Cross win

Wesley Nijman vs Andrew Gilding – Another match up of two debutants. Gilding has been brought in as a late replacement for the injured Nathan Aspinall.  Hopefully this hasn’t hampered any preparation too much but he would’ve been waiting on the phone call, as Aspinall’s participation in this event was always in major doubt.

He faces Wesley Nijman, who has lit up the Pro Tour this year with some consistently good performances and high averages. He made a Pro Tour final recently, losing out narrowly to Luke Littler. His form has tailed off slightly in recent weeks though, averaging 100+ only once in his last nine matches, which is poor by his standards.

My main worry for Nijman is his lack of televised tournament exposure, he’s only played in two of them, which included an opening round defeat to Steve Beaton at the World Championship. Gilding will plod along and likely average somewhere in the 90s, I’m going to say he finds a way to pip the Dutchman, even with a lesser average.

Prediction – Gilding win

Michael Smith vs Jose De Sousa – I have to say, I strongly fancy Bully Boy to get the job done in this one. This is mainly down to the massive fall in form and results for Jose over the past 18 months or so – he’s averaged below 92 in 12 of his last 14 matches, quite frankly shocking numbers for a player who would regularly produce ludicrous ton plus averages on a regular basis just a couple years ago.

Smith is averaging more than four points higher than The Special One over the past 12 months. He hasn’t got the greatest record at this in nine appearances, although did make the final in 2018. He should take advantage of an opponent with zero confidence here.

Prediction – Michael Smith win
