Wimbledon Women’s Singles Final Tips: Krejcikova to win in three sets

On Saturday we will witness the Wimbledon women’s singles final contested by Barbora Krejcikova and Jasmine Paolini. Both players have been on incredible journeys at the All England Lawn Club over the past two weeks, and we should be in for a thrilling showpiece on Centre Court.

As we strap ourselves in for what’s to come, I’ve had a go at predicting how this final will unfold. Below you will find my Wimbledon women’s singles final tips.

Over 21.5 total games @ 4/6

The odds may not be the most glamorous for this market but the reason why is because I think everyone is expecting this match to go the distance, and both players are capable of racking up plenty of games, even if they are on the losing end.

Paolini’s emphatic victory over Donna Venkic was the longest-ever semi-final in Wimbledon history, in which 31 games were played over a three-set spectacle. There were 28 games played in Krejcikova’s triumph over No.3 seed Elena Rybakina in their semi-final clash, so I think all the evidence is pointing to us getting a lengthy final on Centre Court on Saturday.

Both players are riding a wave of momentum and they are high on confidence heading into this match, so they are both expected to have periods of dominance on the hallowed Centre Court surface. I do think that these players will easily pass the 21-game mark on Saturday as I do see the match going all the way.

Jasmine Paolini to win set 2 @ 1/1

Looking for stronger value from this clash, I have picked out Paolini to win set two. After the tense two-hour-and-51-minute match with Venkic, I think she could be in for a staggered start against her Czech opponent. I can see Krejcikova setting the tempo early on and taking the first set.

This will lead to the Italian needing to come up with a response, like she needed after falling a set behind Venkic on Thursday. Like she did then, I think Paolini will grow into the final and start showing the qualities that have grabbed everyone’s attention in SW19 over the past fortnight. Her tenacious spirit is bound to come into play and I think that she can once again thrive under the pressure of having to come from behind.

The fact that she is contesting a second consecutive Grand Slam final after last month’s French Open showpiece will also come into play I think, and if she does fall behind again, she has the quality to be commanding in the second set to take the match to a decider – of which I am confident that it will.

Barbora Krejcikova to win 2-1 @ 11/4

My final selection is for Krejcikova to win 2-1. Trust me when I say that is certainly a tough one to call as I can see both players winning the Championship, but my head is telling me to back the Czech star.

Yes, Paolini is in her second-straight Grand Slam final, but Krejcikova has the experience of winning a major, the French Open back in 2021. What has also factored into my thinking here is the fact that she is well-seasoned at the All England Lawn Club, having won two doubles titles here in 2018 and 2022.

This may be her first time in the singles final, but I think that valuable experience will be priceless against someone who is about to taste a Wimbledon final for the very first time. It should be a very tight encounter between two very talented players, who are both worthy champions. I just happen to believe Krejcikova will edge it and show her class to take the crown.
