eBay Finds: A Vintage Zodiac in Great Condition, a Pair of Cool Bulovas, and a Classic Seiko Chronograph

eBay Finds is back! This bi-monthly installment will feature a selection of watches currently listed on eBay that have caught the eye of editor Christoph McNeil (@vintagediver). If you come across any hidden gems on the ‘Bay drop us a note at info@wornandwound.com for potential inclusion!

Unbranded Yachtingraf Vintage Chronograph

First up this week is this killer vintage unbranded version of a Yema Yachtingraf chronograph. The original Yema is a cult classic and highly sought after. This no-name  example may lack a name brand, but it has all the style of the original. Including the unique big-eye sub-dial look with the red white and blue elapsed minute dial as well as a date window at 6 o’clock. The steel case looks to have been polished but still looks nice, and the black count-down bezel is in great shape. Seller states the hands were professionally relumed. The watch is powered by a Valjoux 7734 manual wind movement that the seller states has been serviced and is working perfectly.

Seiko “Pogue” 6139-6002 Automatic Chronograph

And here we have a true classic, a vintage Seiko 6139-6002 yellow dial “Pogue” chronograph. Seiko put out a multitude of 6139 variations, but this is definitely the most recognizable with the bright yellow dial, the same as Col. Pogue wore on his journey to Skylab. This example is super clean, and looks to be original to my eye. The dial and hands are clean and devoid of any black funk on the lume, and the “Pepsi” tachymeter bezel looks sharp. The steel case is unpolished with the original brushed finish and sharp edges. The watch even comes on the correct Seiko H-link bracelet. Seller states the watch is working, so if you’ve been pining for a Pogue, check this one out!

Vintage Bulova Stormking

Next up is a really nice vintage sporty dress watch with a dial I’ve never seen before on a Bulova. The two-tone gray and white bullseye style dial is in nice shape, with a touch of patina, and some patina to the hands as well. But overall it has a really sharp look and if anything the light patina adds rather than detracts from the watch. The 33mm steel case looks good, and is the front-loading type so no movement picture. But the seller states it runs well and keeps time. It comes on a period correct JB Champion stretch bracelet that fits the style well.

Vintage Zodiac

Vintage Zodiac may be known for their famous Sea Wolf divers, but they did make plenty of other models. This one here doesn’t come with a super cool name, but it is still cool. The steel case is the same as the Sea Wolf, including the snap on caseback. But instead of a diver’s bezel, this model has a really good looking wide, flat bezel that has deep grooves on the hour markers. It doesn’t look like it turns though, but since it’s not a dive watch it doesn’t have to. The black dial has a fine crosshair, and the Zodiac logo is at 9 o’clock, with a date window across from it at 3 o’clock. The movement is a Zodiac 70-72, just like its diver counterpart, and it runs well per the seller.

Vintage Seiko Lord Marvel

Here’s another Seiko for you, a vintage LM (Lord Marvel) with a really neat square, chunky steel case that oozes 1970’s vibes. The 35mm case is front loading, and still exhibits sharp edges and the mixed brushed/polished finish. Classic Seiko details. The dial is clean with applied steel baton markers and steel hands, and of course the ubiquitous day/date window at 3 o’clock. It comes on its original integrated steel bracelet as it should. Seller states it runs well and works great.

Vintage Bulova Snorkel

Two Seikos this week, and now two Bulovas! eBay works in mysterious ways… But this one is a real gem, a vintage Snorkel 666ft dive watch that is seldom found in this condition. The 35mm steel case is excellent and looks unpolished, and the elapsed time bezel is superb. The bezels on this model for some reason are usually beat to a pulp, but this one is nearly perfect. The black Explorer style dial is a beauty, with perfectly patinated lume that is a joy to behold. I see plenty of these models for sale, but this is the best one I’ve seen in several years. It has the correct signed crown, and also the correct acrylic crystal with the internal date magnifier window. A true classic, you cannot go wrong with this one.
