Two teams headed in opposite directions clash on Sunday Night Baseball on June 30 when the AL-leading Baltimore Orioles (53-30, 29-16 home) host the Texas Rangers (37-46, 17-27 away) in the finale of a four-game set at Camden Yards (7:00 pm ET).

Baltimore looks to build on a four-game win streak, which includes three victories over Texas, while the Rangers are desperate to snap a six-game skid.

With Andrew Heaney (2-9, 4.35 xERA) on the bump for the reigning World Series champions, the Rangers vs Orioles odds project Texas’ losing streak running to seven.

Baltimore Orioles (Irvin) -158 -1.5 (+128) U 9.0 (-118)

Baltimore heads into Sunday Night Baseball as -158 home favorites wit Texas priced at +134 to end its losing streak. The over/under is sitting at 9.0 runs with the under slightly favored at -118.

Despite taking over the AL East lead by a game over the Yankees, the Orioles are still +135 underdogs in the current MLB division odds.

Sitting nine games back of the Mariners in the AL West, Texas has faded to +1000 to win its first division title since 2016.

Rangers vs Orioles Recent Results

Baltimore dominated the opener of this four-game set with an 11-2 win on Thursday, despite allowing 12 hits to the Rangers. The Orioles took another high-scoring game, 6-5, on Friday before eking out a 2-1 win last night behind a phenomenal performance from starter Albert Suarez (6.0 IP, 3 H, 0 BB, 2 K).

The O’s now sit second in all of baseball with a +121 run differential, trailing only the Dodgers (+125). The Rangers have posted a massively disappointing -19 run differential so far this season, a year after finishing second in the AL at +165 en route to their first World Series title.

Making matters worse, star shortstop Corey Seager had to leave Saturday’s game after being drilled in the wrist by a pitch in the fifth innings. It’s unclear how long he’ll be out but he’s scheduled for x-rays on Sunday and it’s unlikely he’ll be in the Rangers lineup for Sunday Night Baseball.

Texas turns to struggling starter Andrew Heaney on Sunday. Heaney hasn’t been terrible of late – going at least 4.2 innings in each of his last five starts without surrendering more than three runs – but he also hasn’t been as good as the Rangers need him to. He’s allowed 11 runs total in his last four starts (at least two in each) and Texas is just 1-3 in that span.

The 33-year-old lefty also has hugely concerning numbers against the Baltimore lineup. In 72 total ABs, the O’s hitters are slashing .278/.307/.653 against Heaney with seven home runs and six doubles. Austin Hays and Ryan Mountcastle each have a pair of dingers off of Heaney.

He hasn’t faced the Orioles this season. In three appearances against Baltimore last year, he allowed nine runs on 13 hits and four walks over 13.1 innings.

The good news for Texas is that Baltimore starter Cole Irvin is also mired in an ugly stretch. Irvin has allowed nine runs on 15 hits and two walks in just 8.2 innings over his last two outings. His ERA jumped from an impressive 3.03 to a middling 3.74 in that short span.

Irving has a reasonably good history against the Texas lineup, though. In 86 total at-bats, he’s limited them to a .244 average and .720 OPS with four homers and three doubles. Adolis Garcia, Derek Hill, Robbie Grossman, and Marcus Semien each have one longball off Irvin.

Rangers vs Orioles Prediction for Sunday Night Baseball

With two struggling starters on the mound, I am going to take the over. The probable absence of Seager from the Texas lineup is an unwelcome sight, but he’s also 0-for-10 lifetime against Irvin, so this was a prime spot to rest him anyway.

I expect Baltimore’s success against Heaney to continue. While he’s been better on the road (3.56 ERA) than at home (4.98) in a small sample size this season, his career splits show a concerning 4.71 ERA in away games, compared to 4.24 at home.

TEX vs BAL picks:

  • Orioles moneyline (-158)
  • Over 9.0 runs (-104)
