Football Bet of the Day: Gunners could help put on entertaining affair

Arsenal comfortably topped their Champions League group and now face an away trip to Porto in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday (KO, 20:00).

The Londoners are in the thick of the battle for the Premier League title, just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, and they are also through to the knockout stages of the Champions League after topping Group B with minimum of fuss.

The Gunners face a tough test against Porto in the first leg of this round of last-16 tie however, with the hosts finishing level with Barcelona in Group H on 12 points, only finishing second on head-to-head record.

The Dragons are seven points behind Benfica in the race for the Portuguese title but are not to be underestimated by an Arsenal side that have found things more difficult on the road than at home in Europe this season.

Arsenal have been in rock solid form recently, propelled by their goalscoring record.

The Gunners have netted 21 goals in their last five league games, all victories, and they could carry that fine scoring form into this clash.

Mikel Arteta’s side have dished out 6-0 and 5-0 away hammerings to West Ham and Burnley respectively and also beaten title rivals Liverpool 3-1 at home.

Wideman Bukayo Saka has been in particularly good nick, netting six times in his last four league matches.

The Gunners should not overlook the goalscoring abilities of Porto either however, the Dragons have scored at least twice in six of their last seven matches.

Both teams look likely to find the net in this clash, given the hosts’ impressive recent scoring record and Arsenal’s tendency to be somewhat leaky on the road.

The visitors have seen both teams find the net in their last eight Champions League away games and the same looks probable as they visit a Porto side that are unbeaten in their last 10 home matches, winning nine of those.

The Dragons will know that going into the reverse fixture needing a result could be terminal for their hopes of qualification so will be keen to put in a strong attacking performance on their own patch.

They may struggle to contain an in-form Arsenal forward line however and over 2.5 goals is the selection in this clash.

The pick has landed in Arsenal’s last five matches and with both teams scoring in nine of the Gunners’ last 14 away games in all competitions, Porto can contribute to a high-scoring first leg of this knockout clash.
