Long before Netflix and Chill with a glass of wine on TV became an American pastime, wine made many appearances on the big screen, though always in the form of a faux. Until about 20 years ago, actors and actresses toted wine glasses filled with thin grape juice or water doused in food coloring during sipping scenes. Wine lovers scoffed at the fakes found in fancy films: No fine red wine has a pale fuchsia hue! But, as wine gained more mainstream prominence in American culture—and TV studios wanted their scenes to look and feel as real as possible—authentic wine took its place on set. Wine is now so often featured in films and television shows that it deserves a SAG card, though actors and actresses still do not typically consume alcohol while shooting scenes. (Non-alcoholic wines and quality grape juices often serve as stunt doubles for the real thing.)
Jordan Winery is very fortunate to have had its wines selected many times for appearances in TV and movie scenes—so much so that we’ve decided to start a running list of Jordan wine on TV spottings for our fans. For those who love to sip on Jordan wine while catching a flick at home, these are the latest on-demand TV shows and big screen film releases where Jordan Chardonnay and Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon appeared.
