Exeter ran in 11 tries on their way to their opening 65-10 win over Saracens and they will be aiming to back it up at Harlequins on Sunday.
By contrast, Quins thought they were about to win at Gloucester, only for the TMO to decide that debutant Jarrod Evans had made contact with an opponent’s head.
Evans was subsequently shown a yellow card, which resulted in the try he had just converted being chalked off.
The Cherry and Whites then grabbed a score of their own to seal a dramatic 29-28 victory and leave the visitors seething.
They will hope to put things right down at the Stoop on Sunday but will need to be on their guard against an exciting young Chiefs side.
Match odds
Harlequins lead the match betting at just 1/2, with the Chiefs 13/8. The tie is available at 20/1.
Quins are 10/11 carrying a -5 handicap, while after winning last season’s edition of this fixture 40-5, a repeat by a margin of 31-35 is 25/1.
Team news
Harlequins are without the England quartet of Jack Walker, Joe Marler, Danny Care and Marcus Smith, while South Africa’s Andre Estheruizen is another key absentee due to the Rugby World Cup.
They will be captained by Alex Dombrandt, who missed out on a place in the Red Rose squad and he is joined by the experienced Joe Launchbury in the pack, while Will Porter and Jarrod Evans deputise for Care and Smith in the halves.
Exeter are also without the majority of their World Cup contingent and make one change with Ben Hammersley starting on the right wing. Immanuel Feyi-Waboso drops to the bench.
Exeter to win @ 13/8
Quins were plagued by inconsistency last season, winning nine but losing 11 and the chaotic climax to their opening match hints at more of the same this time around.
They are still waiting for their big guns to return but the Chiefs have got almost everyone available, with the departures of no fewer than four British & Irish Lions over the summer forcing Rob Baxter and his staff to put their faith in youth.
Most of their emerging players have seen action over the last couple of years and know what Premiership rugby is about. Their exuberance against Sarries hints that they will be tough to stop and a second win could beckon.
Josh Hodge Anytime Tryscorer @ SP
A leading light in Exeter’s opening win was Josh Hodge. Stuart Hogg’s retirement means Hodge is now first-choice at full-back and has the talent to push for a place in England’s plans ahead of the next Rugby World Cup in 2027.
The 23-year-old grabbed a hat-trick against Saracens and could star again.
