NAP of the Day: Ralph & Rossa to score again

  • By Admin

We enjoyed a lovely winner on the all-weather on Wednesday – same again on Thursday?

NAP of the Day

  • 17:30 Chelmsford – Leadenhall @ 4/1

Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan have proved quite the double act this season. Their form, both individually and together, has barely let up all term, and it’s fair to say neither are showing signs of slowing down.

At time of writing, Beckett is operating at a 20% strike rate, while Rossa has guided five home in the last couple of days alone. Red-hot.

I’m hoping the pair can enjoy more success on Thursday, courtesy of Leadenhall in this 0-85 handicap over a mile.

After an underwhelming juvenile campaign, the selection returned earlier this year with another sub-par effort at Salisbury, in May, disappointing again off an opening mark of 73 at Sandown a month later.

Things started to improve when he was subsequently upped in trip at Doncaster, where he was a staying-on third – and then he finally got off the mark at Haydock in the first half of August. That’s easily his best performance to date, beating the now 81-rated Harlem Nights by a widening couple of lengths.

I must admit, I do think he should have won off 77 at Newmarket last time out, but there were clear excuses that day. After meeting trouble in running, he then hung right towards the line. I think he’s better than that. He’s certainly bred to be, by Kingman and a half-brother to the Gosdens’ 112-rated Laurel.

Up just a pound, he must have an excellent chance here in a lukewarm contest. William Haggas’ hat-trick seeking Turquoise Diamond is respected, but it’s Leadenhall for me at a nice price.
