Holders Manchester City return to Champions League action this evening at RB Leipzig with both teams looking to build on opening day wins by three goals to one.
City were given a bit of a fright by Red Star but came from a goal down at half-time to pick up the three points despite Erling Haaland’s Champions League goal ‘drought’ continuing. It’s now four matches since the Norwegian striker has found the net in the competition but that run can’t continue and he’s 4/5 to score on his return to Germany.
The Premier League leaders are a tempting 3/4 to win but RBL will be dangerous opponents. They’ve only lost once this season, an opening day defeat at Bayer Leverkusen and have been banging in the goals too. They’ve scored two or more in seven of their eight games so far. That means we could be in for a few goals at the Red Bull Arena and 7/10 on Over 2.5 isn’t the worst price to build your accas.
A sell-out St James’ Park will be bouncing for the visit of PSG. Eddie Howe has warned that the players and crowd will need to keep their emotions in check but there’s no doubt they’ll fancy this one.
PSG aren’t firing on all cylinders having only won three of their first seven games in Ligue 1. While Newcastle come in to the game in fine fettle following a 0-0 draw at AC Milan and three good wins on the bounce without defeat.
The Toon Army can inspire them to a famous win tonight at 31/20.
The East End of Glasgow will be equally raucous tonight for Celtic’s first home match of this season’s Champions League against Lazio.
The Hoops held their own in Rotterdam until the 45th minute when they conceded from a free-kick. The second half could’ve been a lot worse after they went down to nine men and in the end Brendan Rodgers would have been happy to escape with a 2-0 defeat.
Despite being 16th in Serie A, Lazio should present an even sterner test for the Bhoys but they’ll take inspiration from two wins against the Italians when the sides met in Europa League duty in 2019.
Celtic have yet to hit top gear and are without first choice centre-halves. That could leave them vulnerable at the back. It’s almost 10 years since they last won a Champions League match at home. You could argue they’re overdue one at 19/10.
But goals could be a better bet with BTTS priced at 4/6 and Over 2.5 at 4/5.
Earlier in the evening Atletico Madrid look a solid bet at home to Feyenoord at 4/6. The Spaniards suffered a late equaliser to Lazio’s goalkeeper on Matchday 1 but should be too strong for the Dutchmen.
For a bigger priced winner tonight you could do worse than look at Shakhtar Donetsk (10/3) who make the trip to Antwerp. The Ukrainians have a pretty poor record away from home but Antwerp look like they could be out of their depth in the competition.
