Alan Pham takes control at heads up to win the Main Event Warm Up

On the fifth day of play, the Main Event Warm Up festival opener found its victor with Australia’s Alan Pham defeating Yun Yan Hsiao at heads up. This win marked yet another impressive achievement for Pham in the Asian circuit this year, as he secured his career fourth title in the region alone.

Briefly recapping the final stages to victory, Pham entered the final table running a very threatening third rank, and by three-handed, he was neck and neck with Hsiao who began the day as chip leader. Pham went on to eliminate Yu Xuan Pan to widen the gap against Hsiao. It was a grind for Hsiao to claw his way to near par, a game-changing hand sent all his work crashing down to eventually succumb in 2nd place.

Next hand it was all over. Pham shoved with Qh4h, Hsiao risked it with Kd2h, the board was Qs4s3dAd3s.

Pham outlasted a field of 635 entries to walk away with the largest festival payout of the day of TWD 984,600 (~USD 30,945). For runner up Hsiao, his hunt for a maiden title was denied in this event however with a new bankroll of TWD 656,000 (~USD 20,600), he may just get there in this series.
