India Women defeat Bangladesh by 108 runs to tie the series at 1-1 with to Jemimah Rodrigues’s outstanding all-around performance

In the second ODI of the three-match series on Wednesday, India Women defeated Bangladesh Women by 108 runs, led by an outstanding all-around performance by Jemimah Rodrigues’s (86 off 78 & 4/3).

At the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, India scored 228/8 in their 50 overs while batting first after losing the toss. Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur (52 off 88) both struck half-centuries for the visitors. Rodrigues demolished the bottom order, while Devika Vaidya had a bowling score of 3/30. During the chase, Bangladesh reached 106/3 at one point, but they ultimately were bowled out for 120 in 35.1 overs after losing seven wickets for 14 runs.

By catching Sharmin Akhter (2) lbw, India’s Deepti Sharma delivered the opening blow. The following ball from Meghna Singh was caught at mid-off by Murshida Khatun (12). Lata Mondal (9), who inside-edged a ball from Sneh Rana onto her stumps under pressure after India bowled four consecutive maidens, was dismissed as a result of the pressure.

Ritu Moni (27 off 46) and Fargana Hoque (47 off 81) combined for a 68-run fourth-wicket stand to lift Bangladesh. When Hoque was stumped by Vaidya after he turned and bounced one, the partnership was dissolved. Moni attempted to challenge the Indian bowler but was also stumped by Rodrigues in the very next over.

Vaidya’s bowling also resulted in the stumping of Rabeya Khan (1), and Rodrigues quickly got rid of Nahida Akter (2) and Nigar Sultana (3). Sultana was lbw caught when Nahida was bowled. Rodrigues effectively finished the game by catching Marufa Akter (1) off another thrown-up ball.

Jemimah Rodrigues’s, Harmanpreet set up fighting total for India

When India Women batted first. They once again had a poor start when Priya Punia was bowled by Marufa Akter for seven. After Marufa intercepted a direct strike from Smriti Mandhana, Yastika Bhatia (15) was run out at the non-striker’s end.

The next victim was Mandhana (36 off 58), who was bowled by Rabeya Khan as she attempted to free herself from her chains. After a 73-run partnership between Rodrigues and Harmanpreet. The latter was forced to retire injured after being smacked on the left hand. Then Harleen Deol joined in and contributed 25.

Following Deol’s ejection, the Indian skipper returned to the field and eventually reached her fifty-run mark. Rodrigues’ excellent innings, which included nine fours. Came to an end at the opposite end when she was stumped by Nahida Akter. Then, in the final over, Harmanpreet’s stay was interrupted by a sensational catch made by Rabeya at deep wicket. In the last over, Deepti Sharma (0) and Rana (1) both lost wickets.

India did not receive the anticipated finishing push, but their bowlers made sure that Bangladesh was far outclassed by the visitors’ score.
