All New Maps in League of Legends Arena Mode
League of Legends’ new Arena mode is where 4 teams of two battle each other in several rounds to see who comes out victorious. It is a unique new game mode that brings freshness to the same old League of Legends maps.
There are many new things in this game mode, including Augments, new maps, old abilities redeveloped into the game, and much more. In this Mobalytics article, we will discuss all of the new maps in the game and bring you some information on how to maximise your champion’s effectiveness when playing on each map.

There are a total of 4 playable maps where you will fight your enemies to the death. Each map features different terrain and possible fighting opportunities. Some champions will benefit from a more open playing ground, while others will prefer to fight in tight spaces and around corners.
For more information on the new maps, check out the Dev Blog. We wish to thank Remus whose video we have used to grab the map images from.
The first map is the ice, snow or Freljord Map. It is one of the more open maps, which allows for a lot of fighting and offers a good amount of trading potential. It has a few small bushes and some obstacles you can abuse.
The Shurima map looks quite open, but it’s not that empty, I’m afraid. There are multiple narrow paths and inclosed areas, which is good for melee and short ranged champions. Unlike some of the other maps, there aren’t any bushes to protect you.
Noxus Map is a map that has a lot of crystals and obstacles you’ll need to pivot around to beat the enemy teams. They’re quite a nuisance to play around, but its easy adaptable. Having range is beneficial when playing on this map.
The final map is the Ionia Map. It is quite open, with no major structures to play around. It doesn’t really matter what champions you’re playing on this map as both ranged and melee champions are good on it.
Summary
Each of the new maps has unique gameplay potential with different barriers and obstacles to over come. You may find that some of these maps make your champion feel more powerful, but some of the maps might make you feel weaker overall. Play to your best on each map to come out victorious!
