Scotland’s fantastic victory in Norway has put them in pole position in qualifying for Euro 2024 and Steve Clarke’s side will be looking to extend their advantage when Georgia come to Hampden Park on Tuesday.
The Scots have collected nine points from their opening three Group A contests, that included the victory in Norway and a triumph at home to Spain, and with two qualification spots up for grabs, Scotland will be hopeful of a trip to Germany next year.
Georgia are an improving side and they have taken four points from their opening two qualifiers. Willy Sagnol’s men won 2-1 in Cyprus at the weekend and they will have their own hopes of reaching the 2024 European Championships.
Football Bet of the Day – Tuesday 20th June, 2023
Scotland & over 2.5 goals @ 6/4
Date: Tuesday 20 June, 2023
Time: 19:45
Location: Hampden Park, Glasgow, Scotland
Scotland have got their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign off to a fantastic start and their clash with Georgia at Hampden Park looks a game between two sides firmly on the up.
Steve Clarke has led his side to excellent victories over Spain and Norway, Scotland also hammered Cyprus 3-0 and those results are by no means complete shocks.
The Tartan Army were disappointed to miss out on a trip to the Qatar World Cup last year, but Scotland won six qualifying matches on the bounce to force a play-off with Ukraine, and that indicated that the Scots were on the rise.
Clarke also saw his men win four of their six Nations League matches, in a section that contained Armenia, Ireland and Ukraine, and their progress has certainly continued in to the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
Scotland have scored 17 goals in their last eight matches and with John McGinn and Ryan Christie offering good support to frontman Lyndon Dykes, Clarke appears to have built a good attacking unit.
Georgia are another side that have been progressing well and, alongside Scotland, they look likely to give Norway and Spain further problems in this qualifying section.
The Crusaders have scored 25 goals in their last ten matches, and in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Giorgi Chakvetadze and Georges Mikautadze, they have a young, improving and talented front line.
Georgia certainly have the ability to find the net and cause Scotland problems at Hampden, but the Scots appear to have the more rounded and balanced squad and Clarke’s side should strengthen their position at the top of the group.
The Crusaders have seen four of their last five matches go over the 2.5 goal mark, seven of Scotland’s last nine games have seen at least three goals and backing a Scottish victory and over 2.5 goals in the game at 6/4 looks a play.
