What does my microbiome do for me?

What does my microbiome do for me?

We know gut microbes aid in digestion and deliver nutrients. They also produce vitamins, maintain blood pressure, and affect your mood. Because we rely on so many partnerships, we can be viewed as superorganisms with our microbiomes doing more to keep us healthy that our own cells do. For each human gene in your body there are around 360 microbial genes – so you simply cannot survive without a microbiome.
