A new survey by Loftware highlights an overwhelming demand for stronger connectivity across global supply chains, with 90% of industry professionals emphasizing the need for greater collaboration to boost efficiency, ensure compliance, and reduce costs. The findings come as companies prioritize resilience, transparency, and agility to navigate disruptions and evolving consumer expectations.
The survey, which collected insights from over 400 professionals across 55 countries, revealed that 84% of respondents support forming collaborative ecosystems where supply chain partners share access, data, and standards. Cloud technology is viewed as essential in enabling this transformation, with 74% agreeing that it provides a flexible framework to streamline labeling and collaboration across trading partners.
“Global supply chains have grown increasingly complex, amplifying the need for digital transformation. Companies are turning to cloud solutions to enhance interactions and ensure compliance across their networks,” said Josh Roffman, EVP of Marketing at Loftware.
Compliance challenges remain a significant pain point. The study found that 70% of large companies ($1 billion+ in revenue) frequently relabel inbound goods due to supplier errors—a costly and resource-intensive process. However, 77% believe that providing controlled access to labeling standards and data could alleviate these issues, ensuring goods arrive correctly labeled and avoiding costly fines.
The report also underscores the rising role of technology in securing supply chains. Artificial intelligence is gaining traction, with 78% believing it can detect counterfeit goods, while 59% of companies are already using serialization technology to tackle challenges like product authentication and inventory management.
Digital transparency was another critical theme, with 68% identifying cloud technology as key to improving traceability. Enhanced tracking capabilities ensure sustainable sourcing, protect consumers, and mitigate counterfeiting risks. Moreover, **Digital Product Passports (DPPs)** are emerging as a vital tool for transparency. These passports enable stakeholders to trace a product’s origin, ingredients, and sustainability practices. While 54% of respondents say DPPs already play a role in their industries, 63% expect widespread adoption within three years.
Loftware’s findings emphasize that adopting cloud-based solutions and digital transparency tools is vital for creating a resilient, efficient, and secure global supply chain.
