After a fourth straight win on Sunday at the expense of the division-rival Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers are being recognized as arguably the best all-around team in the NFL, with this team being dominant on both sides of the football.
One of the main reasons for the team’s dominance offensively has been the play of veteran running back Christian McCaffrey, who has been playing out of his mind during the first month of the 2023 NFL season. McCaffrey has been playing so well that he’s starting to get MVP buzz, especially after Sunday’s four-touchdown performance.

Unfortunately for McCaffrey, the NFL MVP award has been given to a quarterback for a decade straight, according to Nick Wagnor of ESPN.
The NFL’s Most Valuable Player award has been given to a quarterback for each of the past 10 seasons.
It’s a fact that wasn’t lost in the conversation in the San Francisco 49ers’ locker room after their 35-16 win against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
McCaffrey wants to change that trend and might be able to do it if he can stay healthy and keep playing at this level. Trent Williams believes this year could be the year that it goes to a running back rather than a quarterback.
“Hey, all them streaks come to an end eventually, right?” Williams said. “This might be the year. I can see it.”
In four games thus far, McCaffrey has racked up 459 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. The veteran back also has 141 receiving yards and a touchdown on 18 receptions.
